09 June 2022

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) is pleased to announce that Dr MaryAnn Ferreux is the new Chair of the College’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Committee. Dr Ferreux is the Chief Medical Officer at Integrated Care 24, a social enterprise delivering urgent care services for the NHS. She has international experience working across both the Australian and UK health systems, with specialist qualifications in medical leadership and management.

Commenting Dr Ferreux said:

“I have been lucky enough to succeed despite numerous barriers and challenges, but understand that we need to work together to address the inequities that exist for people from diverse and marginalised backgrounds to make healthcare fairer.  For me, one of the key strengths that I can bring to RCPE is a lived experience and a diverse viewpoint.

“ I am delighted to be appointed as the Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and to be invited to work with members on a journey to create a more diverse and inclusive college that supports health equity and addresses inequalities.”

Commenting, Professor Andrew Elder, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, said:

“ I am delighted that MaryAnn Ferreux is the new Chair of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Committee and I warmly welcome her to the College.

" MaryAnn has an impressive track record of achievement in leadership roles in health systems both internationally and in the UK. She is passionate about tackling health inequalities and increasing diversity at all levels, including at leadership and senior management level.

“ MaryAnn’s experience, knowledge and expertise will be a huge and highly positive asset to the EDI Committee and the College as a whole as we continue to make progress in embedding equality and diversity across all College activities and structures.”
