Events FAQ

General event questions

How do I access RCPE events?

To attend our events, you must register online via our event pages. It is important that you do register for any event you wish to attend so that we can send you important event information and your personal link to the online feedback survey, which you must complete to be issued with a CPD certificate.

Our events are delivered as either online only, hybrid, or in-person only, and each event page will highlight the attendance options available for booking.

For online attendance, you will be issued with live stream joining information the day before the live event.

Most of our events are available for catch-up, and information regarding access to this will be shared with any registered delegates.

How can I ask a question during an event?

You can ask questions during our events via the interactive voting application, Slido. Information regarding how to access Slido will be provided to you during the event. We endeavor to answer as many questions as possible during each event.

How do I claim a CPD certificate?

Each event is approved for a certain amount of CPD credits based on the hours of learning available. In order to receive a CPD certificate from RCPE for attending any of our events you will need to complete an online feedback survey to confirm your attendance. CPD can be issued for any content consumed within 28 days of a live event, therefore, each survey is open for 28 days and all CPD certificates will be issued via email once the survey has closed.

Can I access past events?

Most of our events are recorded (unless a speaker requests otherwise), and selected talks are made available on the RCPE Education Portal and are accessible to all RCPE Members and Fellows. Some of our events are also available for catch-up for up to six months for any registered delegate. Please check the details on each individual event page for event specific information on catch-up.

I am interested in exhibiting/sponsoring an upcoming event, who do I contact?

Booking your event

How do I register for an event?

To register for one of our events you need to click on the ‘book now’ button you’ll find on each individual event page. This will open a pop-up Eventbrite window to enable you to select your ticket from the options available, enter your details and complete payment via the Eventbrite platform.

I’m not sure if I’ve already booked for an event

When registering for an event, Eventbrite automatically creates an account for you (using the email address you register with) in which any booking you’ve made is listed. To check your booked events, you can login to Eventbrite using your email address or via any event bookings confirmation email you’ve received from Eventbrite to view all RCPE bookings bought with that email address.

Please note that it is the responsibility of the individual to reach out to RCPE if a duplicate paid booking has been made.

I’ve registered for upcoming RCPE events, but I’ve not received any Eventbrite emails.

Sometimes Eventbrite emails are sent to junk/spam - please check in these folders first.

Your email preferences may block Eventbrite as a sender due to some emails looking like spam, therefore, please double check your email settings.

Eventbrite have provided further information on receiving their emails: What to check when you don’t receive Eventbrite emails | Eventbrite Help Center. If you continue to have issues with receiving emails from Eventbrite, we advise that you reach out to their customer service where they will be able to help you with this further.

I am finding that I must re-enter my full details for each booking I make, is there a way to autofill this information?

To prevent you from having to fill out your name and contact details for every event you register for, you can set your browser autofill settings to complete this for you.

Please see the following help pages for each browser to enable you to set this up:

Where is my online event access information?

Event access information is issued to all registered delegates in the days leading up to each event direct from Eventbrite in an event reminder email. If you book within 24 hours of the event you may find the event access information within your Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

Note: Some events do not come with online access. These include some in-person only events, and bookings for Evening Medical Update Live-link Sites. Please check individual event pages to confirm

How do I register using my Fellow voucher/Block Grant discount code?

If you are entitled to a Fellow Voucher or the Block Grant Scheme, you will have received a code to be used to gain access to your free symposium and/or symposia via a member of our education team.

To use, please click ‘book now’ and type the code into the ‘promo code field’ shown at the top of the ticket fee options page and click apply, this will reduce the ticket fee. You may need to be logged into the RPCE website (if a Fellow or Member) to gain access to your discounted tickets.

If you have not received this code and you feel you should have, please contact bookings@rcpe.ac.uk

What to do if I get a payment error/declined while registering?

All payments are managed directly by Eventbrite. If you are having trouble completing a payment you can try to use an alternative card, or see Eventbrite's Help Centre for further advice: https://www.eventbrite.com/help/en-us/articles/611789/how-to-troubleshoot-problems-registering-for-an-event/?msockid=1bcacf604caa624d070edad248aa602b

I need a receipt for my event booking

How do I request a refund?

If you can no longer attend an event, you may request a refund if within our refund policy period. Please see our ‘Terms and Conditions of Booking’ for further policy information.

To request your refund, please go to your booking confirmation email from Eventbrite to make the request. Alternatively, you can log into your Eventbrite account and request a refund via your account.

Evening Medical Updates (EMUs)

What is the EMU Programme?

Led by the College’s Trainee and Members’ Committee, the Evening Medical Update (EMU) programme covers specialties, presentations and conditions included within the Internal Medicine Training (IMT) curriculum. Within these, we aim to cover topics from a range of clinical settings including the acute medical take, outpatient's department, community care and critical care. The programme also includes up to two non-clinical updates covering a range of topics, such as medical ethics, law and career resilience in medicine. The programme takes place monthly between September and June of each academic year.

Who is the EMU programme aimed at?

Although aimed primarily at core trainees, the EMU programme is open to all hospital doctors, GPs, allied health care professionals, and medical students. They are free of charge to all RCPE Members and Fellows, and to attend at one of our live-link sites (where available). There is a small fee for non-RCPE Members who would like to watch the live event from home via individual access.

What is a live-link site, and where can I find them?

The programme is live streamed to several live-link sites around the UK and further afield. Please see the map below/above for current active sites and via the live-link tab on each EMU event page. Your local site coordinator will be able to advise you on local room locations and any other site-specific information.

If there are no live-link sites near you and your hospital is interested in linking into the EMU programme, please contact Perrin Grant; p.grant@rcpe.ac.uk. for more information. Please note that there are a few requirements for setting up a site, including a suitable venue and equipment, publicity and acting as the site contact.

What if my local live-link site cancels the live-stream?

Not all live-link sites are available to host every EMU in-person. If your local hospital is not hosting, you can still access the live events online from home. You can find up-to-date information regarding hosting sites via the live-link tab on each EMU event page.

If your local live-link site cancels a particular EMU, we will let those registered know as soon as possible. We will also direct you to your next closest site or give you the option to view the EMU as an individual yourself.
