Events FAQ
General event questions
-
How do I access RCPE events?
-
To attend our events, you must register online via our event pages. It is important that you do register for any event you wish to attend so that we can send you important event information and your personal link to the online feedback survey, which you must complete to be issued with a CPD certificate.
Our events are delivered as either online only, hybrid, or in-person only, and each event page will highlight the attendance options available for booking.
For online attendance, you will be issued with live stream joining information the day before the live event.
Most of our events are available for catch-up, and information regarding access to this will be shared with any registered delegates.
-
How can I ask a question during an event?
-
You can ask questions during our events via the interactive voting application, Slido. Information regarding how to access Slido will be provided to you during the event. We endeavor to answer as many questions as possible during each event.
-
How do I claim a CPD certificate?
-
Each event is approved for a certain amount of CPD credits based on the hours of learning available. In order to receive a CPD certificate from RCPE for attending any of our events you will need to complete an online feedback survey to confirm your attendance. CPD can be issued for any content consumed within 28 days of a live event, therefore, each survey is open for 28 days and all CPD certificates will be issued via email once the survey has closed.
-
Can I access past events?
-
Most of our events are recorded (unless a speaker requests otherwise), and selected talks are made available on the RCPE Education Portal and are accessible to all RCPE Members and Fellows. Some of our events are also available for catch-up for up to six months for any registered delegate. Please check the details on each individual event page for event specific information on catch-up.

Evening Medical Updates (EMUs)
-
What is the EMU Programme?
-
Led by the College’s Trainee and Members’ Committee, the Evening Medical Update (EMU) programme covers specialties, presentations and conditions included within the Internal Medicine Training (IMT) curriculum. Within these, we aim to cover topics from a range of clinical settings including the acute medical take, outpatient's department, community care and critical care. The programme also includes up to two non-clinical updates covering a range of topics, such as medical ethics, law and career resilience in medicine. The programme takes place monthly between September and June of each academic year.
-
Who is the EMU programme aimed at?
-
Although aimed primarily at core trainees, the EMU programme is open to all hospital doctors, GPs, allied health care professionals, and medical students. They are free of charge to all RCPE Members and Fellows, and to attend at one of our live-link sites (where available). There is a small fee for non-RCPE Members who would like to watch the live event from home via individual access.
-
What is a live-link site, and where can I find them?
-
The programme is live streamed to several live-link sites around the UK and further afield. Please see the map below/above for current active sites and via the live-link tab on each EMU event page. Your local site coordinator will be able to advise you on local room locations and any other site-specific information.
If there are no live-link sites near you and your hospital is interested in linking into the EMU programme, please contact Perrin Grant; p.grant@rcpe.ac.uk. for more information. Please note that there are a few requirements for setting up a site, including a suitable venue and equipment, publicity and acting as the site contact.
-
What if my local live-link site cancels the live-stream?
-
Not all live-link sites are available to host every EMU in-person. If your local hospital is not hosting, you can still access the live events online from home. You can find up-to-date information regarding hosting sites via the live-link tab on each EMU event page.
If your local live-link site cancels a particular EMU, we will let those registered know as soon as possible. We will also direct you to your next closest site or give you the option to view the EMU as an individual yourself.
