Senior Management Team
The Senior Management Team comprises the Chief Executive and three Directors. SMT is responsible for taking forward the objectives outlined in the College’s strategic plan, ensuring the smooth operation of our core activities, and maintaining compliance with legal and financial obligations.
Keith McKellar
As CEO, Keith has overall operational leadership responsibility for the delivery of the College’s strategic priorities. An experienced CEO, Keith has held CEO posts in the commercial, research and charity sectors in addition to a number of high-profile non-executive roles including in the Higher and Further Education sectors and Ministerial appointments.
The College’s Purpose is to promote and improve the science and practice of medicine. It is a privilege to be the CEO of an organisation that is a force for good in the world.

Lindsay Paterson
As the Director of Global Engagement, Lindsay leads a diverse and talented team of over 20 staff who are responsible for the College's communications, membership, marketing, policy, political engagement, quality, heritage and journal functions.
An experienced senior manager and communications professional, Lindsay has extensive networks across the private, public and third sectors in the UK. She has more than fifteen years of board level experience as a non-executive director, elected representative and as a charity trustee. Lindsay is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR) and was appointed a Member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy of Scotland in 2022. She is a graduate of the University of St Andrews.

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh is a global organisation that just happens to be based in Edinburgh, and we benefit daily from the varied experiences of our UK and international Fellowship and Membership.

Mary Fraser
Mary initially worked as a veterinary surgeon, before returning to academia to complete further clinical qualifications and a PhD in dermatology. Alongside clinical practice, she then worked in both human and veterinary medical education before joining the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh as Director of Education, Training & Assessment where she oversees further training, examinations and CPD provision. Her main interests focus on clinical and digital medical education, and in particular the challenges of teaching Clinical Decision Making. In 2017 she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for Meritorious Contributions to the Profession.
Working at the College gives me the chance to work with a fantastic team, support the medical profession and learn from doctors around the world.
