Livestream Issue Reporting/Feedback Out of Hours

set margins

Use this form to report any problems encountered during livestream events or provide post-event feedback, for events that take place out of normal working hours (UK time). Please use the troubleshooting help provided by this form and only submit the form if you require further assistance.

If you submit a response this should be received by staff working during the event, but event demands can make it difficult to respond promptly. You can also reply to emails that provide event access information to get directly in touch with event staff.

Suggestions when encountering problems connecting to the livestream

Please close any non-essential programmes/applications and browser tabs.

Refreshing the webpage, updating your browser or changing to a different browser may help. Most browsers should work apart from Internet Explorer due to Flash no longer being supported. Clearing the browser cache and cookies(link is external) may also help.

If connected at home, if there are other devices using the same internet connection, turning these off may help, if possible (particularly for devices that are streaming video or being used for online gaming).

There are additional ways to speed up slow internet(link is external).

If the player works intermittently, please check the bandwidth setting on the player. This can be changed at the bottom left of the minimised player (i.e. when the player is not in full screen). There are High, Medium and Low options. If there is buffering, switching from High to Medium, or from Medium to Low, should help.

If this troubleshooting guidance has not resolved your problem(s), please provide your information and further details below, so our team can support you.

The above solutions should hopefully improve your viewing experience and allow you to engage with the event in near real-time (such as Q+A sessions). However, you can try to pause the video for a period (e.g. a minute or a few minutes) and let it buffer completely which should allow you to watch the content uninterrupted.

Suggestions for sound related problems

If the video is playing but you cannot hear any sound please check that the sound/volume is turned on and the volume is sufficiently high on the video player. You can change the sound/volume controls on the video player at the bottom left of the minimised player (i.e. when the player is not in full screen).

If the sound/volume is turned on on the video player, ensure that the sound/volume is turned on and the volume is sufficiently high on your device, and check your sound settings to ensure the correct speaker is being used and for any troubleshooting provided.

If using wired speakers or wired headphones, ensure they are plugged in correctly. If using wireless headphones, ensure they are charged and that they are connected (e.g. using Bluetooth).

If the above fails, try refreshing the webpage. If this does not resolve the issue, try restarting your browser. If this does not resolve the issue, try restarting your device.

Rarely, there can be (typically brief) sound issues caused by an issue with AV equipment within the College. We endeavour to provide updates via Slido as soon as possible, so please check there for updates.

Suggestions for poor picture quality

First, please check the bandwidth setting on the player. This can be changed at the bottom left of the minimised player (i.e. when the player is not in full screen). There are High, Medium and Low options. Try switching from Low to Medium, or from Medium to High, i.e. increasing the quality.

If this does not work or makes things worse for you, it is likely the issue is due to your connection.
