Dr. Sohail Q. Khan, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, graduated in medicine from the University of Edinburgh. He published widely as a medical student and spent time at Harvard Medical School, Mayo Clinic and Groote Schuur Hospital, South Africa. His Cardiology training took place in Leicester, where he earned an MD from the University of Leicester for research on cardiac biomarkers and acute myocardial infarction. Dr. Khan then advanced his cardiology training in Manchester before being honoured with the prestigious Boston Scientific Fellowship for advanced coronary intervention training at The University of Toronto/Toronto General Hospital, Canada.

Actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training, Dr. Khan holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at the University of Birmingham where he is lead for undergraduate cardiology teaching. His impact on training is evident as he has mentored numerous cardiologists who are now practicing across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Operating a substantial clinical practice, Dr. Khan specializes in all areas of general and interventional cardiology, with a focus on treating high-risk coronary angioplasty patients. His expertise includes the use of rotablation and intracoronary imaging (IVUS, OCT) to optimize stent implantation for optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, he is adept at managing chronic total occlusion and is one of the few UK cardiologists performing laser atherectomy. He runs the UK Impella High Risk PCI course. Dr. Khan is widely published in high impact journals including Nature and Circulation and serves as a local Principal Investigator for more than six National and International multi-centre clinical trials. He holds Fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh & London, the European Society of Cardiology, and the American College of Cardiology. His expertise is acknowledged through invitations for lectures and guest operator roles in procedures, both nationally and internationally. In his leisure time, Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and has recently taken up amateur astronomy.
