Proposed Drugs Death Prevention (Scotland) Bill

Friday, 12 August, 2022

This Scottish Parliament Member's Bill proposal seeks to enable the establishment of overdose prevention centres (OPCs), including establishing a licensing framework for centres, in order to prevent death due to drug overdose; and to create a new body for the oversight of drug policy development and implementation in order to improve health by preventing and reducing drug use, harm and related death. The College welcomes this Member's Bill proposal, having supported the establishment of OPCs for some time now, and looks forward to working constructively with elected representatives from across the political spectrum and other stakeholders as efforts are intensified to address Scotland's drug deaths crisis.
