Aqsa Yusuf
I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon completion of high school, I joined university of Nairobi whereby I completed my MBCHB. In 2016 I completed my internship at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya where I gained knowledge in several medical fields.
My main interest has been in critical care, I joined the Aga Khan University Hospital neonatal intensive care unit and Kenyatta National Hospital’s obstetric’s critical care unit ; which is one of the first maternity critical care units in our country. Such exposure to critically ill mothers and children has been very instrumental in influencing my career choice in choosing to study Critical Care. During my service tenure, I have gained immense knowledge and experience in the field of critical care. I strongly feel that the University of Edinburg will offer me the best opportunity to sharpen my skills as I contribute to my community.
I am grateful for the 75% scholarship from RCPE for MSc in critical care at the university of Edinburgh. I am optimistic that the knowledge and skills acquired from this training curriculum will be instrumental in achieving my career goals while at the same advocating for better health care and patient care across my country.
