Since the COVID pandemic, there have been a number of other ‘emerging threats’ which have caused global concern. In August 2024, the WHO declared a public health emergency over a large epidemic of mpox in the DRC and several other African countries. The potential of a high consequence infectious disease can cause great anxiety and stress both at the front door of the hospital and also in primary care.

This webinar will aim to provide the following:

  • An overview of lessons and strategies learnt from COVID, and recent and evolving pathogens and their role in the next pandemic.
  • Explore the UK experience of Mpox so far including recent changes in classification and management options
  • Updates from managing high consequence infectious disease in the field from a military perspective.

This programme will be of particular interest to anyone working in infection specialties, public health and GUM, alongside acute medicine, emergency medicine and general practice. This webinar is open to all levels consultants, trainees, students and AHPs and international audience.

We hope the audience will find the evening informative and enlightening, and be able to take something back to their everyday practice.
