MRCP(UK) components

The examination has three components:

  • Part 1 written examination, based on multiple choice questions
  • Part 2 written examination, based on multiple choice questions
  • PACES - Part 2 clinical examination, a Practical Assessment of Clinical Examination Skills

Successful completion of the entire three-part examination is required before you can start specialist internal medicine training in the UK. Guidance regarding the best time to sit each part of the examination is available. Candidates can choose to sit all three parts of the examination through the Edinburgh, Glasgow or London Colleges who operate examining centres throughout the UK and overseas.

PACES - The Edinburgh College hosts PACES centres in various locations throughout Scotland, England, Wales and on occasion, Northern Irleand.

Please note that PACES examination dates can fall on any day during the assessment period, including Saturdays and Sundays.
