Every year the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, in conjunction with our sister Colleges, the Royal College of Physicians of London and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, conducts a census with the aim of providing robust data on the state of the physician workforce in the UK.
The census data helps us plan for the future and is more important than ever, considering the effects of COVID-19 on the NHS and ongoing and intensifying workforce challenges.
The data we collect via the census is integral to our political and external engagement work, enabling us to explain to governments across the UK why the workforce and health service are under such pressure.
If you are interested to learn more about how the Colleges use the data, please look at results from the 2021 census here, it includes a summary report of findings, a video preview of results and two data toolkits you can interrogate census data by your specialty, region and trust.
How to complete the 2022 census
Please look out for your email from the three Royal Colleges of Physicians around Friday 28 / Monday 31 October which will allow you to access your personalised form. The URL sent to you is specific to you and should not be passed on to your colleagues.
This year all respondents will be entered into a draw where they will have the chance to win a set of airpods, an iPad or a free conference/event place from a selection of excellent learning opportunities (details contained in attachment below).
The College strongly encourages Fellows and Members to take part in the census and help us gather the most accurate and robust consultant and SAS doctor data possible.
If you haven’t received your email, or are having difficulties accessing your form, please contact mwucensus@rcp.ac.uk
