Born on January 11, 1986, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Dr. Chiku Badru Mwimbo has always been driven by a passion for medicine and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of her patients. With a career spanning over a decade, Dr. Chiku has become more intrigued with medicine, striving to become a critical care specialist.


Dr. Chiku’s academic journey began with her early education in Tanzania, where she laid the foundation for her future success. She pursued her higher education with determination, earning a Bachelor of Medicine from Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her thirst for knowledge led her to further her studies. She obtained a Masters of Medicine in Emergency Medicine from Shandong University in China, where she demonstrated leadership as the Secretary of the Tanzanian Students Association.


Dr. Chiku’s professional career commenced in 2014; since then, she has been dedicated to providing exceptional medical care. Her roles have included positions at various hospitals such as Amana Regional Referral Hospital and Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, where she has served as a Medical Doctor. Her expertise has been recognized at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, where she currently works as a Physician in the cardiothoracic ICU.


Dr. Chiku’s commitment to her field is further evidenced by her participation in numerous training programs, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications from the Emergency Medical Services Academy in Tanzania. She has also completed a Principles of Ear Care and Audiology course, showcasing her versatility and dedication to continuous learning.


Dr. Chiku is proficient in English and Swahili, which has undoubtedly enriched her interactions with patients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Her affiliation with the Emergency Medicine Association of Tanzania underscores her dedication to advancing emergency and critical medicine in her home country.
