The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, has appointed Lord Darzi to review the performance of the NHS. The College has joined with the Royal College of Physicians of London (RCP) and the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) in writing to Lord Darzi to offer support for his work and to urge him to place a focus on the care of older people. We emphasise the need for improvements in the wider care system and action on delayed discharge, as well as the importance of better care for older people with frailty and workforce challenges.
