The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh warmly welcomes international medical graduates (IMGs) who have joined us in the UK to support the NHS across the four nations. The College greatly values the contribution of IMGs to our NHS and wants to ensure that IMGs are well supported as they transition to UK clinical practice.

The College helps to facilitate training opportunities in the UK for international medical graduates. The College is a sponsor for the Medical Training Initiative (MTI), a UK Government scheme, which allows a number of international medical graduates to train for up to 2 years in the UK.

This webpage is a resource for IMGs to help signpost to official documents, information and policies that we hope you will find useful as you begin life in the UK.

It is not exhaustive and is designed to be viewed in conjunction with information provided by your health board or Trust.

This page is a work in progress- if you have any suggested additions that you think others would find helpful, please email Douglas Pattullo d.pattullo@rcpe.ac.uk

Have you joined the College?

We develop medical care and training standards globally, and influence health policy throughout the UK on behalf of physicians and patients.

When you join us you can support this vital work, access our extensive range of professional support, and become involved in other College activities that will enhance your career.
