During my formative adolescent years, I attained my secondary education at Hillview College and nurtured my affinity for the sciences. At tertiary level education, I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.
Upon completion of my MBBS, I returned to Trinidad and Tobago and completed my medical internship at the Port of Spain General Hospital. After the internship, I enrolled as a Resident Internal Medicine Officer at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex – the most visited hospital in Trinidad and Tobago.
My desire to pursue a career in Medicine was inspired by the fact that my three brothers are also doctors. Since childhood, I have been intrigued by the infinite possibilities of ‘space’, but as I progressed throughout my medical training, I also realised that the human body was a ‘space’ of its own. As a person who enjoys a cerebral challenge while delivering competent and compassionate care on the axis of the patient-doctor relationship, Internal Medicine was a natural fit.
Since my MBBS graduation, I have contributed to multiple research publications in tandem with my postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine at the University of Edinburgh with a particular focus in Cardiology. I also co-lead many charitable medical clinics held in various communities throughout Trinidad.
In my leisure time, I am an avid filmgoer and indulge in amateur video-editing. Also, I am a supporter of Arsenal F.C and the West Indies cricket team.
