BMA, Resuscitation Council (UK) and RCN
Tuesday, 8 October, 2013

Background:  The BMA, Resuscitation Council (UK) and RCN are currently revising their joint guidance on decisions relating to cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The revision is not as radical as the previous one in 2007, which incorporated the Mental Capacity Act and reflected changes in health professionals’ roles and the way health care is delivered.  This current revision does not introduce any substantive changes but places increased emphasis on aspects such as communication and shared decision-making. In view of this they are limiting this consultation to a select number of key stakeholders.

Comments were invited from RCPE on the confidential revised draft.
