Biographical Information
Dr Vinod Ravindran is a past Editor-in-Chief of the College Journal-The Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. At the Manipal University, India he holds the faculty position of adjunct professor of medicine. His primary position is as the director and consultant rheumatologist at the Centre for Rheumatology, Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala where he is based. In addition, he is an MRCP PACES examiner and also serves on the college’s symposium development committee.
He had his basic and post-graduate medical training in India, and subsequently in the UK at Wales and North of England. He trained in Rheumatology at London, and has worked in a number of London hospitals and also at Ipswich and Maidstone. He has an MSc in Rheumatology from the King’s College, London. After returning to India, his initial appointment was as Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at the MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna, Kerala.
He has vast experience in research and academic medical publishing, including as the Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Rheumatology, which is the society journal of the Indian Rheumatology Association. He is keen on propagating the art and science of medical writing through frequently held workshops, and has published a number of papers on the ethics of biomedical publications.
