Dr Khoo passed away in Singapore on 5 March 2012. He had a very distinguished career. Among the many positions he held were as Professor and Head, Department of Clinical Medicine, National University of Singapore; Head, Renal Unit, Singapore General Hospital; Master of the medical students’ hostel; and a leading pioneer in the research and management of renal diseases. The Singapore Kidney Foundation (the premier body in this field in Singapore) owes its commencement and development largely to his strenuous efforts. Dr Khoo was a physician ‘of many parts’. He was an excellent clinician and caring doctor. He spearheaded the development of dermatological medicine as a discipline in its own right. He always lived by high ethical standards as a devout Christian, and was Regional Chairman of the Scripture Union in Asia and the Pacific.
