In this talk Dr Claire Jones explores the writing of birth control advocate Marie Stopes before the Second World War.

Dr Claire Jones is a Senior Lecturer in the history of medicine at the University of Kent. She has lectured at Kings College London, the University of Warwick and the University of Leeds. She is also a trained museum professional and has worked at the University of Worcester Infirmary Museum, George Marshall Medical Museum and the Thackary Museum. Her research focuses particularly on the relationship between medicine and commerce. Her book 'The business of birth control: Contraception and commerce in Britain before the sexual revolution' was published in 2020.
