Dugald Gardner

Biography

Professor Dugald L Gardner is a pathologist who was Director of the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology in London and Professor of Pathology in Queen’s University Belfast. After initially studying pathology in Cambridge, he moved to Scotland and graduated from the Edinburgh Medical School in 1948. Gardner worked for two years in Germany as a physician during the Korean War before undertaking a research fellowship and eventual lectureship in rheumatology at Edinburgh. Gardner was a founding member of the College of Pathologists also worked as Conservator of the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
