Dr Pauline Wilson, Consultant Physician at the Gilbert Bain Hospital, has been awarded the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh’s inaugural William Cullen prize for excellence in teaching/service innovation in NHS Shetland.
The prize was awarded at an NHS Shetland Board meeting on 23 August 2016.
Prof Derek Bell, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, said:
“I am delighted to award the new William Cullen Prize to Dr Wilson. She has gone out of her way to ensure the experience provided to trainees in Shetland is of the highest possible quality, leading to many making Shetland their long-term home.
“Dr Wilson has developed and encouraged the use of video conferencing for training purposes and has enhanced the personalised training provided.
“The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh has Members and Fellows all over the world, but this prize particularly recognises excellence at a local level in Scotland”.
