Consultation Responses

The Welsh Government sought views on proposed changes to the Putting Things Right (PTR) process. Putting Things Right is the process through which concerns and complaints about NHS Wales are investigated. While the College welcomes in general terms the proposals, we also consider that NHS Boards and Trusts must continue to promote a culture of compassion and transparency which we consider will assist in ultimately reducing the number of complaints.

The House of Commons Health & Social Care Committee Inquiry sought views on leadership, performance and patient safety in the NHS. 

The Department of Health & Social Care sought views on proposals to expand access to take-home naloxone supplies. We support the proposed list of named services and professionals that can supply naloxone without a prescription. 

In conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians of London, we responded to the Northern Ireland Department of Health consultation on Healthy Futures- A Strategic Framework to Prevent the Harm caused by Obesity. We strongly agree with the vision of the Strategic Framework and want to ensure that people in Northern Ireland have access to a fully funded obesity service. 

In conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians of London, we responded to the Northern Ireland Department of Health consultation on CEA. We noted that the lack of CEA is likely impacting recruitment and retention within the HSC system in Northern Ireland. 

The Geller Commission held a consultation on reducing unwarranted or avoidable dementia-related hospital occupancy in England.

The UK government, working in conjunction with the devolved administrations, asked for views on plans to create a smokefree generation and tackle youth vaping.

The College was pleased to provide views to NICE on its draft quality standard on transition from children's to adults' services.
