Biography

Dr Helen Zealley studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. In the 1970s she became involved with the emerging speciality of Community Medicine and worked within the children’s service of the Edinburgh Public Health Department for ten years. She was appointed Chief Administrative Medical Office of the Lothian Health Board in 1988 and Executive Director of the Lothian Health Board in 1991, a post she held until her retirement in 2000. Zealley became a Fellow of the College in 1987.
