Biography

David Illingworth qualified in Medicine at Edinburgh University in 1943. Following a brief time at Leith hospital he entered in to the Royal Navy and was assigned to HMS Loch Killin before being sent to Batavia in the East Indies. On his return, he worked at the Western General Hospital before leaving hospital medicine to become a general practitioner in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh. His research led to his graduating MD Edinburgh and he was appointed Physician to the Royal Family in Scotland in 1970.
