This two year project by the College has successfully listed almost 30,000 archival records on our online catalogue.

The project enables academics and the public to access a range of fascinating and rare documents from the College's collections.  These invaluable materials date back to the seventeenth century, when the College was established, and demonstrate the College leading the way in providing medical services, conducting research and regulating the profession.

The online catalogue provides insight into a range of subjects, including

  • The College's establishment of a dispensary for the sick poor in the late seventeenth century
  • Regulation of the profession, including the College cracking down on quacks and unethical doctors
  • Medical research carried out by the College in its own laboratory in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries
